Glass Beads

Most beads are made of either acrylic or glass. Glass beads are the preference among traditional bead workers. They can be various sizes and come in all kinds of colors and patterns.

Those who are familiar with the art of blowing glass may enjoy creating their own glass beads, but for the majority purchasing beads from a craft or bead store is more likely. Glass beads have the benefit of being fairly durable and easy to string.

When buying these kinds of beads always check to make sure the holes are complete. If they are being purchased in packages, ensure you are not paying for any broken or deformed beads. Seed glass beads are sold in large quantities so it may be more difficult to examine them, but because of the sheer bulk, one or two misshapen beads won’t throw a wrench into things.
